July 30th

Today I sat on the couch and read A Wind in the Door until I was done with it. It was very good and I can't wait to read the next one.
All I can think about when I read it is, "This would be such and awesome movie." But they would be very difficult to make well.
There was a bad Disney version of A Wrinkle in Time.
L'engle (the author, of course) was interviewed about the movie and when asked "Did it meet your expectations?" She answered "Yes, I expected it to be bad, and it is."

Then I read Hitchcock by Francois Truffaut, which is also a wonderful book. He talks about his entire career in depth. Right now I am reading about the movie Spellbound (1945), on which he collaborated with Salvador Dali. Dali did the production design in the dream sequences.

Then I practiced Moonlight Sonata on a broken electric organ.

After that Rand and I went to HEB, came home and made salmon caesar salad.
We watched some of The Office season 3, went to the library, checked out 3 movies including Spellbound and went back to watch some more of The Office.
Then I drove home.

July 29th

Today I read about Echelon on the internet. Then I went to piano lessons and now I know how to play the first sheet of Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven!

Then I came home and ran with my mom before it got too hot outside. Later I went to pick up the plastic I ordered for my light box!

I drove to San Marcos and went to the printmaking lab where Rand works.

I sat and read A Wind in the Door.

Then I looked up movie times for Moon, (2009) which is directed by Duncan Jones. I know what you're thinking and the answer is yes! That is David Bowie's son! (Just kidding I know you weren't thinking that, but Jones is definitely his son.) Bowie's in space.

Watch this.

Good Poster.

We ate pizza really quick and then went to the 8:00 showing of Moon. I enjoyed it.

Then we went back to his apartment and watched a spongebob and it was time for bed.

July 28th

Today I went to a plastic place where I ordered a sheet of plastic for the light box we're making. It was about $9.00! Very nice.

Then I read some of  A Wind in the Door by Madeliene L'Engle. It is the second book in the Time Quartet after A Wrinkle in Time.

Then I wrote my roommate who is still in Chicago a letter.

My dad grilled steak and I had dinner with my family.

Then I watched A Little Hut (1957) with my parents.

July 27th

Today I bought a flickr pro account.

Then my Mamaw came over and we talked a lot. She's taking us to Paris in August. She talked about her parents and grandparents. She said that they said: "A man with a beard is untrustworthy and a man with a horse can't pay his bills."

Then I went to a glass place to get a sheet to go on my light box. They didn't have what I was looking for.

I came home where I spent the evening with my family. I watched part of The Crush (1993), which is Alicia Silverstone's first movie role. She is supposed to be 14 years old and has a psychotic crush on farm boy from The Princess Bride (1987).

Some of Superstar (1999)

and Teen Wolf (1985) in its entirety with my mom.

It was a night of truly great American cinema.

July 26th

Today we woke up and watched High Anxiety (1977). Then we played soccer/volleyball outside and finished the puzzle with my mom.

There was a lone mystery piece at the end.

I took pictures of Rand's prints a little more successfully today. Go here.

Then we tried to hook my record player up to speakers (unsuccessful), played the banjo (mildly successful) and tried to load my 8mm brownie camera (unsuccessful).

After that we drove around and took pictures.

More on my flickr.

Then we played the wikipedia game. We had to start at koala bears and end up at broom sticks. Rand won.

After that we watched a few spongebobs on netflix instant play. Including:

July 25th

Today I went to home depot with my dad to buy some wood so that we can make a light box together!

Which is this:

You animate on it.

Then Layne, Chance, Sara and I went swimming again.

Then we drove to San Marcos where I unsuccessfully took pictures of Rand's prints.

Then we went back to my house, ate dinner and started ANOTHER puzzle.

July 24th

Today Layne, Chance, Sara and I made tie dye shirts.

video
These videos have been looking pretty bad because it's crunching the images. I wish that you could view bigger.

Then I bought an underwater camera and we went swimming.

There are more pictures at my flickr

After that we went downtown to see friends who were in town and ate at La Margarita. They are Swiss.
